Trying to get pregnant can be an easy and enjoyable experience for many people. For others, however, it can sometimes be stressful and frustrating. There are many things that you can do to physically prepare for pregnancy, but what can you do to prepare mentally? How can you ensure that your mind and your subconscious are ready to conceive? One amazing technique that I’d like to share with you is called ‘Creative Visualization’.
What is Creative Visualization?
In a nutshell, Creative Visualization is a technique whereby you create vivid mental images about a goal or desire. These images should be as detailed as possible and evoke all your senses and emotions. It involves closing your eyes and imagining what it would feel like to actually achieve your goal or dream. This is not a new concept – athletes, actors and multi-millionaires worldwide have used it with phenomenal success for years. It works because you are able to tap into your subconscious mind and convince it that what you are imagining is actually real. Your subconscious then begins to think and behave in ways to make this a reality.
How can it work for you?
We all know that negative thoughts, stress and worry are not conducive to getting pregnant; yet often, the longer it takes to conceive, the easier it is for negative thoughts to creep in, and the more anxious we can become. Using the visualization techniques below can focus your mind and create an ideal mental state for having a baby.
It is best to try and visualize when you are feeling as relaxed as possible (often first thing in the morning or last thing at night are the best times to practice). Make sure you are in a quiet, comfortable place where you won’t be disturbed.
Use your senses
Try to incorporate as many of your senses as possible. What can you see, hear, smell, feel? This makes the images much more vivid and really helps to tap into your emotions.
Add as much detail as you can as you visualize. Think about the colour of your baby’s hair, what you will dress them in when they are born, what it will feel like when they grip your finger. This all helps to make it more vivid and realistic.
I realise that this last point is a difficult one because we often try not to ‘build our hopes up’ about things in case they don’t work out. However, I believe that if you are reading this, you are probably already 100% invested in having a baby and are willing to do whatever it takes to make this dream come true. This has got to be worth a go! If you are doubtful or half-hearted, the chances of success are greatly reduced. Visualize as if getting pregnant or having a baby has already happened, don’t let negative thoughts enter your mind.
What if I can’t visualize?
Although visualization comes easily to some people, many find it incredibly difficult to create the detailed imagery needed. I would love to help you by sharing my Guided Visualization for having a baby. (rosyandme logo)http://www.rosyandme.com/
